"Bakklandet Houses - Variation 1": Detailed Hanging Stained Glass Art

Introducing "Bakklandet Houses - Variation 1," a signature piece from my debut "Trondheim" Collection . This intricate hanging stained glass panel captures the historic charm of Norway's iconic Bakklandet district, perfect for illuminating any window.

Exceptional detail & craftsmanship

This is the most detailed representation in the series, featuring a remarkable 261 individual glass pieces . This higher piece count allows for greater realism and nuance in depicting the facades of the famous wooden houses.

Technique: The central scene is meticulously assembled using the delicate copper foil technique (the Tiffany method ), perfect for integrating such a high number of small, intricate components.

Framing: The perimeter is framed using the traditional lead technique , providing structural stability and a classic border that enhances its appeal as a window-hanging artwork .

Display: Designed with a sturdy hanging point, this panel is ready to be suspended in direct light, allowing the colours to truly come alive and showcase the detailed craftsmanship.

The Heart of Trondheim Inspiration

The inspiration for this piece struck me while standing on the Bakke Bridge (Bakke bru) , looking towards the beautiful cluster of buildings where the Bakklandet area begins. The original photo, taken on July 1st, 2023 , is included in the gallery.

Bakklandet itself is a major Norwegian tourist attraction on the east side of the Nidelva river , famous for its small, colourful wooden houses (originally old storage houses). This neighbourhood, located between the Bakke Bridge and the Old Town Bridge (Gamle Bybro) , embodies quintessential Nordic design and Norse heritage .

This handmade stained glass piece is an ideal collector's item for enthusiasts of Travel Art , Scandinavian décor , or anyone seeking a unique Trondheim souvenir that celebrates the city's rich history.

The glass art is made out of 261 glass pieces.

Pictures will give you an impression of colour and structure, but it will never look like the original art. Each glass is different in colour and structure which isn´t possible to capture in a picture. Glass in kind is always different to a picture. Coloration and reflections are dependent on many factors like time of the day, lighting conditions and so on.
