Capture the charm of Trondheim's historic Bakklandet neighbourhood with this unique piece of original glass art.

This stunning artwork was born from a moment of inspiration while standing on the Bakke Bridge (Bakke bru), gazing toward the iconic wooden houses and cobblestone streets of Bakklandet. The inspiration photo, taken on July 1st, 2023, is included in the gallery.

This particular piece is presented as a freestanding artwork, designed to be displayed on any flat surface without the need for mounting. It represents the 3rd Variation in this series inspired by the beautiful Bakklandet waterfront.

Artistry and Technique

Glass Art Technique: The core image of the glass art utilizes the detailed copper foil technique (often known as the Tiffany method), allowing for intricate shapes and vibrant glass pieces.

Framing Technique: The sides and lower parts are expertly framed using the traditional lead technique, providing structural integrity and a classic finish.

A Piece of Trondheim History

Bakklandet, a major Norwegian tourist attraction, is famous for its well-preserved small, wooden houses (originally storage houses) nestled along the east side of the Nidelva river. This neighbourhood, located in the borough of Østbyen, stretches between the Bakke Bridge and the picturesque Old Town Bridge (Gamle Bybro). This artwork brings a piece of that unique Scandinavian atmosphere and Norse heritage into your home.

This handmade stained glass piece is perfect for those who love Travel Art, Nordic design, or collecting unique Trondheim souvenirs.

The glass art is made out of 228 glass pieces.

Pictures will give you an impression of colour and structure, but it will never look like the original art. Each glass is different in colour and structure which isn´t possible to capture in a picture. Glass in kind is always different to a picture. Coloration and reflections are dependent on many factors like time of the day, lighting conditions and so on.
