The Legend of Castle Stalker

Perched dramatically on its own tidal islet on Loch Laich, Castle Stalker is a breath-taking sight, renowned for its isolation and rich history spanning centuries. Its name, which translates roughly from the Gaelic Stalcaire as 'hunter' or 'falconer', perfectly captures the remote, wild beauty of its setting. It is a true symbol of enduring Scottish heritage and stoic resilience.

 

My Personal Inspiration

This artwork springs from my own unforgettable stop at the lochside in May 2017. Although I missed a tour inside, the image of this proud Scottish castle, sitting alone amidst the water and mountains, made a permanent impression. I was so captivated by the scene that I used the photographs I personally took during my visit as the direct inspiration and reference to create this original stained glass design.

Crafted from richly coloured glass, this piece accurately captures the atmosphere and unique view of Castle Stalker as it sits on its island, allowing light to illuminate its deep sense of history. It's my hope that you will love this piece as much as I loved creating it.

Each glass is different in colour and structure which isn´t possible to capture in a picture. Glass in kind is always different to a picture. Coloration and reflections are dependent on many factors like time of the day, lighting conditions and so on.
